Development Services Coordinator, The National Aquarium in Baltimore

The National Aquarium in Baltimore has an opportunity for an organized, detail oriented individual to join our Development Operations team as a Development Services Coordinator. This position, reporting to the Director of Development Operations and Research, will be responsible for the data entry of all individual, corporate, and foundation gifts, creating and coordinating gift acknowledgements, production of our donor newsletter, conducting research on prospective donors, administering NAIB's participation in various workplace giving programs, and upholding development department policies and procedures. This position works closely with all areas of the department and deals directly with donors over the phone, so strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

The ideal candidate will be able to meet deadlines in a timely manner, have excellent time management and customer service skills, be extremely attentive to details, and be able to multi-task. This individual must have the ability to work with confidential/sensitive information. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with 1 to 2 years of prior work experience (development experience preferred), proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and experience with fundraising or similar databases (Pacolian experience is a plus).

Development Research Analyst, Johns Hopkins Institutions

The Research Analyst is responsible for conducting prospect research and identification for the Johns Hopkins Institutions, using financial data and information from multiple news sources and wealth screening services. The analyst responds to requests for information on major gift prospects from development divisions, the office of Principal Gifts and Development and Alumni Relations leadership.

Duties include: write thoroughly researched, well-written reports by reviewing internal development background files, SEC and IRS documents and online databases; effectively identify assets and provide gift capacity estimates on fundraising prospects; conduct financial analysis using compensation, stockholdings and property assessment information; serve as analyst liaison to several development divisions; conduct prospect identification projects as needed; provide research training and build relationships with gift officers; monitor publications, stock portfolios and prospect push pages. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; previous experience in development research and/or fundraising is strongly desired; must have strong writing and analytical skills; strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with online databases; ability to identify assets and provide gift capacity estimates on fundraising prospects; initiative and ability to learn quickly, work independently, multi-task and prioritize assignments; demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines while still producing detailed work. Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.

• Provide training to groups of clients, both via webinar and in-person
• Provide training for remote consultants/partners and sales staff
• Manage all aspects of client service and training document development and production including editing and proofreading project documents and presentations enforcing WealthEngine's standards throughout all communication materials
• Contribute to special projects, including client surveys, writing industry-topic articles for periodicals and attending/presenting at industry conferences
• Respond to client inquiries via phone and email regarding product questions or issues

Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Access and a solid understanding of how internet-based applications work. Excellent communication skills, effective problem-solving and proofreading skills along with superior attention to detail required. The ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve desired outcomes essential. The successful individual will possess the following skills, knowledge, abilities and experience:
• Previous experience in training clients/constituents and staff preferred
• Knowledge of instructional methods
• Ability to communicate and relate well with others and possession of public contact (speaking) skills
• Capability to guide "clients" in the learning process and to present subject matter effectively on a group or individual basis
• Familiarity with virtual and traditional management skills
• Ability to make judgments using knowledge and experience
• Advanced knowledge of prospect research and the fundraising strategies used in a development environment
• Solid understanding of fundraising concepts, including planned giving (bequests, annuities and trusts), annual fund and major gifts
• Ability to travel; up to 20%
